POSTNATAL doula care

Welcoming a new baby is a transformative experience that provides a wave of joy, but it can also bring challenges as you navigate the unfamiliar terrain of parenthood.

In many Western societies, a focus is placed on preparing mothers for pregnancy and childbirth, but the critical postnatal period often does not receive the same level of attention. This period, commonly referred to as Matrescence the transition to motherhood, can be particularly challenging, especially when the wider support network is unavailable due to geographical distance, busy schedules, or other familial responsibilities.

Inspired by the collective wisdom found in various cultures, my services aim to bridge this gap by "mothering the mother". Drawing from the African proverb that states "it takes a village to raise a child", I would like to be part of your support village during this pivotal time. In Asian societies, it is customary to extend comprehensive care to the mother for a period known as the Golden Month, which is 40 days following childbirth. This practice emphasises the nurturing and recuperation of the mother, a principle that is central to my approach.
